The West Valley Live Steamers was started by Dwight Durkee, Gordon French and others in Cupertino, California.
Steve Vitkovits wrote in The Call Boy, April 2013:

Group Builds
West Valley Live Steamers hosted at least two large group build projects. John Grant designed a "baby" 2-8-0 Consolidation. At least 17 were built.
