Obituary

From Live Steam Magazine, March 1980:

P. R. (Bud) Bartholomew, age 73, passed away on December 18, 1979 in Nashville, Tennessee following heart bypass surgery.
It was at Bud's home on December 17, 1966 that nine Live Steam enthusiasts met to organize the Mid-South Live Steamers. This was the first such formal club in the southeast.
Bud was a truck driver most of his working life but became interested in Live Steam while serving as Chief Engineer aboard ship in the Merchant Marine during the war. He was a self taught machinist of rare skill. He built and later sold two fine 1-1/2 inch scale locomotives. His knowledge of and interest in The Hobby seemed boundless and he was always read with Practical suggestions to help fellow members.
But will be sadly missed by the many who knew him, but the two locomotives he built (both now in loving hands) will be running for many years as a tribute to this memory.
